Demetre Haralamb Chiparus

The Squall

Chryselephantine sculpture representing a young woman in a squall. She is depicted with her hands in a fur muff and trying to shelter from the wind lifting up her skirt and thus unveiling her knees. The sculpture is mounted on an onyx base. Our piece corresponds to the small version of this sculpture.

Signed in the bronze at the back of the skirt: “D. H. Chiparus”.

Presumed founder Etling.

Circa 1920.
