Remarks:
After the First World War, Henri Simmen decided to discover by himself Chinese, Corean and Japanese ceramic art by visiting over four years the Asian continent. His understanding of oriental pottery is way far from an imitative work. Indeed, even though he refers to the tradition of the ceramic art, he is also very much influenced by his European culture, which enables him to create his style, unique.
