François Pompon

Big Deer

Bronze sculpture with black patina representing a deer. Firmly established on his legs, the animal is standing proudly, in a powerful and majestic attitude that characterizes its specie. Purity of form, the concern for balance in the relation of the masses and the search for the essential make this work a synthesis of the animal art of François Pompon.

The work is signed ‘POMPON’ close to the animal’s left hind leg.

The cast, made in sand, was achieved by Andro between 1930 and 1933
